Why I chose this list of Unique Brazilian baby boy names!
In 2010, I travelled to Brazil where I fell in love with the people, the culture and of course, o futebol!
I also fell in love with all of the beautiful and unique names I encountered.
If you haven’t already noticed from some of my other posts, I love Latino baby names. However, Brazilian names have a different phonetic sound that vibrate through the body!
That’s why in this post, I decided to combine all of the factors I love about Brazil! A list of names that are unique, and which represent a huge part of the Brazilian culture, o futebol!

25 unique Brazilian baby boy names inspired by popular Brazilian soccer players
1. Adriano
Adriano Leite Ribeiro was a former Brazilian striker. He was known as one of the best strikers in the mid-2000’s.
2. António
Better known as Careca, a champion for the Brazilian national team and the Italian Napoli team from 1978 into the late 90s.
3. Dani
A nickname given to Daniel Alves Da Silva, quoted as one of the “strongest, most intense right-sided players in the world.”
Dani was born in the Brazilian state of Bahía. Dduring his youth, he played soccer for one of the biggest clubs in the region. By age 18, he played his first game in the Brazilian Serie A. In 2008, at age 25, he joined the all renowned FC Barcelona team.
4.Djalma
Djalma Pereira Dias dos Santos was a Brazilian footballer who started for the Brazilian National football team in four world cups, winning two in 1958 and 1962.
5. Cláudio
Claúdio André Mergen Taffarel is a retired goalkeeper and current goalkeeping coach for the Brazilian National team.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, is known as one of the greatest players of all time. He led his national team to three World Cup championships. He scored a total of 77 goals in 92 games for Brazil between 1957-1971.

Edvaldo Jizídio Neto, known as Vavá is considered one of the best strikers of his generation. His nickname was Peito de Aço (steel chest).

Jair Ventura Filho was a dominant right winger. He is known for his finishing ability and eye for goal. He was a member of the legendary Brazilian national team that won the 1970 FIFA World Cup.

José Roberto Gama de Oliveira, better known as “Bebeto” was a forward and is the sixth-highest goal scorer for his national team.
13. Leônidas
Leônidas da Silva was a Brazilian association footballer and commentator. He played for the Brazilian national team in the 1934 and 1938 World Cups.
14. Marcelo
Marcelo Vieira da Silva Júnior started playing soccer at age 13. He plays for the Brazilian national team and Spanish Club Real Madrid.
15. Neymar
Brazilian soccer prodigy, Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior emerged as a Brazilian hero for Santos FC as a teenager winning four straight Player of the Year awards. He currently plays as a forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazilian national team.

Nílton dos Santos is regarded as one of the greatest defenders in the history of the game. He formed part of the Brazilian National team when theu won the 1958 and 1962 World Cups.

Paulo Roberto Falçao is a former footballer and football manager. He is considered one of the best Brazilian players of all time.
