BACK-TO-SCHOOL Color by Number: MATH SKILLS

These school coloring pages are a fun way to get your students working on their math skills.

They are also great way to get children working on number recognition and number sequences.

They are perfect for the classroom and for independent learning at home!

Let’s take a peek at what’s included:

There are six different pages included in this kit.  The first two pages are free after subscribing at the end of this post!

Each will work on a different set of numbers. Here are the numbers included on each sheet:

• Page 1 works on the numbers 1 through 8.
• Page 2 works on the numbers 9-14.
• Page 3 works on the numbers 10-100 in intervals of tens.
• Page 4 works on the numbers 5-40 in intervals of fives. 
• Page 5 ranges from 2-14 in intervals of two.
• Lastly, page 6 works on numbers 3-24 in intervals of 3.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL COLOR BY NUMBER COLORING PAGES: Color word recognition

Unlike in my St. Patrick’s Day color by number pages in Spanish where the color code is represented by a crayon, these back-to-school color by number worksheets are a little bit trickier.

Instead of the crayon, each worksheet has the color word in Spanish. 

Why? 

Omitting the color will help your little with color recognition in Spanish.

If your littles are new to learning the color words in Spanish, I recommend printing off a copy of my color flashcards in Spanish.

You can review the color flashcards with your students beforehand. For more help, you can hang or put them near your students as a guide when completing these color by number worksheets in Spanish.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL COLOR BY NUMBER COLORING PAGES: FINE MOTOR

Not only will your littles learn math by working on number recognition, but these worksheets are also a great way for little children to strengthen their fine motor skills as they color tiny sections of these cute back-to-school coloring pages.

Younger kids will also work their hand-eye coordination as they look and identify the different numbers found in the hidden pages.

We like to use a variety of art supplies when working with our color by code worksheets. 

Our go to is markers, but when we really want to get in the art zone, I will whip out the watercolor paints and we will go to town.

It creates a fun painting experience for your master artist! 

They will be so pleased with their gorgeous artwork!

Watch as through each different art supply, your children use a different muscle in their little hands.

BACK-TO-School COLOR BY NUMBER IN SPANISH: VOCABULARY

In addition, with these worksheets your students can practice Spanish vocabulary as they reveal the hidden pictures.

Ask them to identify the parts in the picture.

Along with math and fine motor skills, these back to school theme color by number printables in Spanish will be a great mindfulness activity for your child as they do some independent work and use their coloring skills to fill in the mystery pictures.

They will also practice patience and they go through and complete the hidden picture.

USEFUL TIPS FOR USING THESE PRINTABLE COLORING PAGES IN YOUR CLASSROOM

First download the coloring worksheets and print off several copies of the color by number activity for each student. 

The best way is to start by introducing the color flashcards in Spanish to your students, or by writing the basic Spanish color words on the board.

Then, work through one coloring sheet at a time and together as a group. Go through and identify the different Spanish numbers on the sheet.

Together go through and quietly fill in the correct colors. Let’s see if everyone’s color on the number sheets look the same!

Once your students get the hang of how the activity works, you can then hand out different sheets to the students and let them try the activity in small groups or individually. 

Go around the room and encourage the students to keep conversations and practice all in Spanish to get the minority language flowing.

It will be interesting to see how each child uses their drawing skills to color these pages in their own way.

Either way, going (back) to school can be a very intimidating experience for any child, and the parents, too 👋. One way to ease the transition is by practicing positive affirmations every day to boost your child’s confidence and self-esteem.

Since we speak in Spanish at home, I decided to create some back-to-school affirmations in Spanish to use in our home, and I want to share them with you today!

Why use these back-to-school affirmations in Spanish with your child?

A few months back, I created a set of 40 positive affirmations in Spanish for kids and they were such a big hit, not only in my household but with all of my awesome readers and buyers.

You might be asking, what are positive affirmations?

In that post, I go into more details about what positive affirmations are and their benefits, but to sum things up, positive affirmations are brief phrases that are thought or said aloud to boost self-confidence and rid the brain of negative thoughts.

They are verbal exercises that can be practiced daily or weekly to improve the mind and rid it of negative, self-sabotaging thoughts.

With that said, going to school for the first, second, third, or tenth time can produce lots of emotions in your child. Happiness, fear, sadness etc. So using back-to-school affirmations at home on a daily basis can encourage positive talk and boost your child’s self-esteem throughout the school day.

How can you use these back-to-school affirmations in Spanish to ease your child’s transition to school?

Below are some creative ways you could use these back-to-school affirmations in Spanish today:

• Print out your set of back-to-school affirmations in Spanish and hang them around your house. Every time you and your child approach an affirmation, read it and talk about it.
• Teachers, print them out and hang them around your classroom. Use them as a great translation activity with your Spanish students! Talk about ways they might have practiced that affirmation recently. Your children will be able to see all of the positive ways other students used their words throughout the school day.
• Read a back-to-school book in Spanish and spot any of these positive affirmations throughout the book.

If you drive your child to school, use the drive as an opportunity to talk about an affirmation and again, present your child with situations that might occur in school, related to the affirmation. Talk about positive actions can they do in school today to spread joy and happiness.
• Place an affirmation on the bathroom mirror and have your child repeat the affirmation while getting ready in the morning.
• Print them out and add a magnet. Place a different affirmation on your fridge for a daily affirmation! Make it a daily routine to say that affirmation aloud throughout the day! This will help change your child’s thought patterns and boost self-esteem. 
• Use them as reading practice! Print off printable affirmations and use them as reading resources for emergent readers!
• You could also utilize them as writing practice by having your child copy the sentence into a notebook. I always learned best when writing things down!
• Be a role model by using these affirmations yourself and model them throughout the day for your child! You might be surprised by a surge of positivity, too!
