Why in Spanish?

For starters, my blog is centered around raising bilingual children, and since I am raising my son in Spanish, I like to make printables that I can with him at home.

Also, before I started making my own printables, I realized how few fun and seasonal Spanish resources that are available, so I thought it would be fun to add a printable component to my blog!!!

So, even though the titles of these summer mazes printables are in Spanish, they are meant for everyone to enjoy a little language love this summer!

What is included in this summer maze printable kit?

Included in this printable mazes kit are 3 pages of fun maze activities!

They full-sized worksheet mazes with fun summer-themed mazes that include wonderful designs from Hidesy’s Clipart

The different mazes include the summer sky at dusk, a yummy popsicle and a beach scene with a sandcastle.

These mazes will work your children’s fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination as they use their problem solving skills to work their way from start to finish.

SUMMER BEACH COLORING PAGES

The next coloring pages will give off total summer vibes with some cool beach scenes.

This one was inspired by the awesome Latin song “La calma” by Pedro Capó and Farruko. It’s catchy chorus starts off like this:

“Vamos para la playa para curarte el alma” Let’s go to the beach to cure the soul.

How cool right? If you haven’t listened to this song, I recommend you do so ahorita!

This cool coloring page with palm trees, beach and ocean waves will definitely calm the soul through some downtime mindfulness.

The next beach scene is centered around making a sand castle, a child’s favorite activity to do at the beach.

Nothing screams summer more than beach sandcastles.

That’s why I titled it, “¡Hagamos un castillo de arena!” “Let’s make a sandcastle.”

HOW TO PLAY THIS SUMMER GAME IN SPANISH

This Summer I Spy in Spanish is super easy to play.

Print out as many copies as you would like and invite the kids to sit around the table.

Hand them one of the free summer printable I Spys in Spanish and have them count the pictures that are in the box and write how many at the bottom of the page.

For the color version of this activity they can count the images by crossing them off with a writing utensil, or by placing a small object, like candy or legos, over each object.

For the black and white version, they can color in an image as they count.

BENEFITS OF PLAYING I SPY IN SPANISH

Not only will you children be entertained trying to find all of the different items in this fun summer activity, but they will be learning as well.

What learning goes on while kids are using these summer I Spy Worksheets in Spanish?

For starters, young learners are practicing memorization skills by memorizing summer vocabulary words and numbers 0-10 in Spanish. Make sure to reward your child or students for keeping this activity exclusively in Spanish!

It also works on children’s math skills as they count and record how many of each item they are finding in the activity.

This summer I Spy is also a great activity to work on visual discrimination skills. It helps young children detect the differences between different objects, symbols and shapes.

The black and white page is for coloring and counting, so you will need coloring utensils such as crayons, markersor even watercolor paints!
Your child!

If you want this printable activity to last for more than one use, I recommend laminating them with laminator sheets or put them in dry erase pockets. From there your child can color the different Easter with dry-erase markers.

Then, store away and use for the following school year!

You could also throw a magnifying glass into the mix to help younger kids identify the objects.

Then, when they are done, you can wipe in clean and store it away in your classroom for future class parties!

We like to use a variety of art supplies when working with our color by code worksheets.

Our go to is markers, but when we really want to get in the coloring zone, I will whip out the watercolor paints and we will go to town. It creates a fun painting experience for your master artist! They will be so pleased with their gorgeous artwork!

How to use these worksheets in your classroom

I recommend downloading and printing off several copies for each student.

Start by going through the numbers in Spanish. Go through Spanish numbers 1-30. Then go through the numbers in groups of tens, then fives, then twos.

You can do a different sheet for each math day.

Start with working with one worksheet at a time and together as a group go through and identify the different Spanish numbers on the sheet.

Together go through and quietly fill in the correct colors. Let’s see if everyone’s color on the number sheets look the same!

Once your students get the hang of how the activity works, you can then hand out different sheets to the students and let them try the activity in small groups or individually.

Go around the room and encourage the students to keep conversations and practice all in Spanish to get the minority language flowing.

Summer vacation is here which means there might be some beach trips coming your way.

If so, you might want to prepare your little language learners with common words in Spanish that they can use at the beach!

Maybe they will make a castillo de arena, or jump over las olas en el mar, or maybe even tomar el sol. So fun!

Well today, I am bringing you 24 FREE Spanish beach vocabulary flashcards. You can use these beach words in Spanish in a variety of hands-on ways which you can learn more about further down in this blog post!

Materials needed for these beach words in Spanish flashcards

For these free printable Beach flashcards in Spanish, all you need is:

8.5 x 11 printer paper or heavy cardstock paper.
A printer
Laminator and laminating sheets to laminate them for multi-use.

Ways to use these beach words in Spanish flashcards

Teachers, are you looking for fun ways to use these beach words in Spanish in your classroom for your upcoming beach unit?

Or maybe you are taking your bilingual child on a trip to the beach and want to nail down all of the Spanish beach nouns.

These beach flashcards in Spanish are a great resource to memorize new Spanish vocabulary words that they can use in a multitude of ways! Check out some fun ways to use them in you classroom or at home today!

Create a print-rich environment by placing these around the house. Add adhesive magnets to the back of the laminated flashcards and hang them on your fridge or washer.
Print out multiple sets of these beach words in Spanish and work on sequences and patterns with your preschoolers!
One of my favorite activities is to print off two sets and use them as a memory matching game. This activity is perfect for younger children to practice language development and memorization skills to connect the spoken word to the image. Make sure every time you flip over a card, you say the name of what’s on it!
You could also play a fun game by having your child stand on the opposite side of the room as you, or even better outside. First, shuffle the flashcards. Then, lift a flashcard and show your child. Lastly, if they guess it right, they can take a step or hop forward! If they mess up, a step backward! Will they make it to where you are?
You could play a bilingual game and say the version in English. Have your child repeat it in Spanish and vice versa.
Use the flashcards as symbols in this beach sensory bin. You could add in some beach figurines to talk about the different beach vocabulary nouns that can be found in the sensory bin.
If you homeschool, you could create a morning basket, add these flashcards and use them only a daily basis. Have everyone draw a flashcard and discuss that flashcard in Spanish.
You could place the flashcards face up on a table and see how fast your child can recognize the beach words in Spanish
Keep these beach words in Spanish in the car so your child can study them as the go down the road, or travel on your trip to the beach!

Another fun way is to play Slapjack by placing all of the flashcards face down on a table. Say a word on the list and have your child flip the cards over until they find the correct beach word.
For reading practice, you could cut the cards in half and use them as puzzles by having your child use their little fingers to match the new words and images with their correct halves.

While you’re packing for a beach trip, place beach items around the house. Hand your child the flashcards and some tape and have them tape the correct flashcards to the correct objects. Make sure to repeat the beach words in Spanish for practice and memorization!
A great way to encourage writing practice is to pick a beach word in Spanish and have them write down a memory with that item in a journal. Maybe they will remember throwing a pelota de playa with their uncle, or subiéndose a la silla de salvavidas when they were five-years-old.
For color practice, go through each beach word in Spanish and have them identify the color. ¿Qué color es el sol? Es amarillo. They can even practice sorting the different words by their colors. Or, you could talk about the colors of your own personal items. ¿Qué color es la bolsa de playa de mama? Etc.

Choosing the right ocean book in Spanish

How will you decide which ocean book in Spanish will be right for your kiddo?

For starters, in this list, I have each book organized by title, author and the recommended age. I also include a brief description of each book.

But only you know your child best so choose a book that will interest your child.

Browse through the descriptions, and if you come across a book you think your child will enjoy, click it and then read the reviews and explore the book some more.

My five-year-old son LOVES documentaries and prefers to read about real-life facts over fictional stories. Hence, his favorite books on this list are the encyclopedias such as number 17 on this list; Antología de animales extraordinarios.

With that said, peruse through this list and find a ocean animal book in Spanish that your child will love and will most importantly, encourage Spanish language use!
